A good foundation

Sorry for the lack of posts - we've been busy.  As of the last post, we have been waterproofed and back-filled... our PM said they are pouring the basement and garage slab today!  We have also met one set of next-door neighbors who seem SO nice, and the people across the street who have twins our sons age! We are really excited about the NEIGHBORHOOD as much as we are about the house!

Our only concern, that my husband is asking our PM on their weekly call today is this:  There is no water-proofing material around the garage foundation - is this correct?  A problem?

  1. They didn't waterproof around our garage either. Just the inerior walls that formed/touched a basement wall with the spray sealant. Other than that, I guess there isn't much need to water proof it elsewhere since it's just dirt/backfilled. It's looking great so far; so awesome to see another Palermo going up!! I hope everything goes smoothly for you guys and your neighbors sound great. We've yet to meet any of ours, but hope to be as fortunate to have great ones!

  2. Hi Teresa, I asked the same question when I saw the water proofing was partially covering the house. Actually there was very little to begin with and our PM mentioned that they only waterproof the interior walls of the garage not the outside for the very same reason Jennifer mentioned above. You can always expect more waterproofing when the house is placed in ground. We have a walk basement so much was not required for us.
